Our Kids, Our Community is a $1,000,000 endowment created to support the Wishard Pediatrics department in perpetuity. Thanks to an anonymous donor, all gifts up to $500,000 will be matched dollar for dollar.

Though often overlooked, thousands of Indianapolis children never receive primary or preventative care because of their families inability to pay. In fact, nearly all of the pediatric patients seen at Wishard have special needs related to poverty.

Wishard is committed to providing for these patients through the continuation, expansion, and creation of specialty pediatric programs (such as the Adolescent Clinic, the Child Protection Program,and the Medical Home) to meet the needs of the Indianapolis community.

For many families, having a pediatrician for our children and seeking well-child and preventive care may simply be the norm. But for other families in our community, the inability to pay means that they may not seek preventive care for their children, or care in the event of minor illnesses. Too often, these can lead to greater health problems, visits to the ER, and even to serious and chronic problems.
